Curvature dependences of wave propagation in reaction–diffusion models

چکیده
Reaction-diffusion waves in multiple spatial dimensions advance at a rate that strongly depends on the curvature of wave fronts. These have important applications many physical, ecological, and biological systems. In this work, we analyse dependences travelling fronts single reaction-diffusion equation with general reaction term. We derive an exact, non-perturbative dependence speed arises from transverse diffusion occurring parallel to front. Inward-propagating are characterised by three phases: establishment phase dominated initial boundary conditions, travelling-wave-like which normal velocity matches standard results singular perturbation theory, dip-filling where collision interaction create additional their progression rate. these behaviours using combination asymptotic analyses numerical simulations.

Curvature effects on wave propagation in an infinite pipe
Abstract Advanced research into non-destructive control of industrial pipeworks provides several acoustical methods for inspection of their structural integrity. Applying guided waves is one possible solution to detect and identify different flaws. Many studies have shown the importance of complex waves describing the interaction phenomena at the vicinity of the defects, modeled as geometrical ...
متن کاملWave propagation theory in offshore applications
A frequency-wavenumber-domain formulation is presented in this paper for calculation of the Green's functions and wave propagation modes in a stratified fluid body underlain by a layered viscoelastic soil medium. The Green's functions define the solid and fluid displacements and fluid pressures due to uniform disk loads acting in either the soil or fluid media. The solution is in the frequency ...
متن کاملWave Propagation in Micropolar Thermoelastic Diffusion Medium
The present investigation is concerned with the reflection of plane waves from a free surface of a micropolar thermoelastic diffusion half space in the context of coupled theory of thermoelastic diffusion. The amplitude ratios of various reflected waves are obtained in a closed form. The dependence of these amplitude ratios with an angle of propagation as well as other material parameter are sh...
متن کاملWave Propagation in Multicomponent Flow Models
Abstract. We consider systems of hyperbolic balance laws governing flows of an arbitrary number of components equipped with general equations of state. The components are assumed to be immiscible. We compare two such models; one in which thermal equilibrium is attained trough a relaxation procedure, and a fully relaxed model in which equal temperatures are instantaneously imposed. We describe h...
متن کاملProblem of Rayleigh Wave Propagation in Thermoelastic Diffusion
In this work, the problem of Rayleigh wave propagation is considered in the context of the theory of thermoelastic diffusion. The formulation is applied to a homogeneous isotropic thermoelastic half space with mass diffusion at the stress free, isothermal, isoconcentrated boundary. Using the potential functions and harmonic wave solution, three coupled dilatational waves and a shear wave is obt...
